2-car accident causes serious injuries

A crash occurred between a Ford Fiesta and a Volvo V40 when they collided on a narrow lane at around 4.20pm. Emergency services attended the scene promptly but, due to the location and distance from the Hospital, an air ambulance was called to transport the injured to Hospital quickly. The 63-year-old driver of the Fiesta was a local man and he sustained the worst injuries and had to be airlifted to hospital where he is receiving further treatment.

The other driver, a 45 year old male who drove the Volvo sustained only minor injuries. Both drivers were checked over and received treatment from paramedics.  Fire crews from three districts also attended the incident.

Police are appealing for witnesses following a crash involving two cars.

Road traffic accidents frequently happen during rush hour. That busy time when lots of drivers are on the road at the same time, trying to get to a place of work on a strict deadline. Care is not always taken to look properly at junctions, judge vehicle speeds and rash decisions can be made when under pressure.
