3 vehicle accident brings roads to a standstill

An accident involving an HGV and two cars caused traffic chaos in the early hours last week. The collision involved a lorry, a blue Ford Fiesta and a Volkswagen Polo.Emergency services were called to the scene of the accident at 8am where Police cordoned off the area which partially blocked the roads and paramedics tended to the injured.

Police said Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service free one motorist by cutting them from their vehicle and another had to be given oxygen by ambulance staff at the scene.

According to the Fire service, they had to free a 25 year old man who was trapped in a car who had also suffered a broken leg. The other two motorists involved shaken but were not injured.

Police are appealing for witnesses of the accident to come forward.
