The accident victim remained in hospital for a week where he was described as being in a “critical but stable” condition.

However his health rapidly improved over the weekend and he has since been discharged.

Police confirmed that the boy will now continue his recovery at home.

A spokesperson from the force added that no-one had been arrested in connection with the incident and that enquiries are still on-going.

A local councillor said, “There’s going to be a survey done as soon as possible along the whole length of Strathtay Road. Drivers have to be especially careful in built-up areas.”
