Arachnophobic Driver Causes Serious Car Accident in Cornwall

An Arachnophobic driver has caused a major car accident when a spider dropped down from her sunscreen and scared her.

As she fumbled to get the spider away from her, her car drifted in to on coming traffic on the other side of the road and caused an accident with another vehicle.

The 40-year-old from Cornwall has admitted to careless driving.

She told police, “I was driving when a large spider dropped down in front of my face and I was just trying to bat it out of the way. I continued straight instead of taking the left hand bend and ended up on the other side of the road.”

The driver added that she saw the car coming and tried everything she could to prevent the accident but couldn’t avoid it.

Magistrates fined her £325 and an additional £100 costs.

She was also given 6 points on her licence.
