British tourist killed by tragic accident on holiday

A British tourist has been killed due to a tragic accident on holiday involving a scooter.

The Manchester based woman was struck down by a scooter while on her holiday in Rome, Italy.

It is believed that she died instantly from the collision.


The rider of the scooter is currently in hospital in a serious condition.

Spokeswoman for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office said: “We can confirm the death of a British national, Deborah Woods, in Rome on 9 June 2011.

“We are in touch with next of kin and are providing consular assistance. We are also liaising with local authorities to help where we can.”
