Car overturns on M61

Emergency services were called to the scene of an accident at 4.39pm where a Mini had overturned on a slip road from the M61.

It is still not known how the accident occurred but Fire services had to be called to secure the vehicle and help remove the driver from her car.  The woman received medical treatment on the roadside by paramedics and was then taken to the Hospital for further observation.  Luckily her injuries are not believed to be serious.

The overturned Mini was moved out of the second lane of the slip road following the crash and the Highways agency inspected the roads for potential hazards such as ice or diesel which may have led to the accident.

Police are appealing for witnesses.
