Charity Event Raises Over £16,000 in Memory of Accident at Work Victim

A charity ball in Northamptonshire has remembered a grandfather who died after an accident at work.

The event which was strictly a Waistcoat and Tiara affair, raised over £16,000 for the Warwichshire and Northamptonshire air ambulance service in memory of the 58 year old.

Mr Smith was found at the vehicle of his refuse truck with head injuries while completing his usual collection round. He was airlifted to hospital but died a week later.

“The event was down to Andrew Southgate, and his wife, Mandie,” a spokesperson told the local press.

“It was absolutely fantastic, I can’t believe the amount of money it raised.

“The support was overwhelming.”
