Children Escape Serious Personal Injury After Car Crash

Two children both under the age of 4 have escaped serious personal injury after a car crash caused by a falling tree.

High winds caused a tree along a road in Bournemouth to fall, crashing in to a moving Land Rover which then lost control and collidede with the car the two children were passengers in.

The Fiat Punto that they were both in was all but destroyed by the impact of the crash, but miraculously both escaped relatively unharmed.

The driver of the Punto had to be cut out of the car and airlifted to a nearby hospital.

The 50-year-old driver of the Land Rover was also treated for chest injuries caused by his airbag.

PC Vivienne Bedford, who attended the scene of the accident said: “I couldn’t believe it. The wind was absolutely horrendous.”

Staggeringly as the emergency services dealt with the incident another tree fell, landing less than 10ft away from a Police officer.

A third tree was later pulled down to prevent further chaos.
