Collision with 4 x 4 vehicles leaves motorcyclist injured on roadside

A man has been injured after his motorcycle was involved in a road traffic accident with a 4×4. Emergency crews received calls about an accident in a busy town centre leaving a motorcyclist dismounted on the road.

Ambulance crews, including paramedics, provided treatment to the rider whilst Police secured the area and spoke to witnesses. The injured man was conscious after the accident and was taken to the nearest trauma unit for further assessment but his injuries are not thought to be serious.

The 4×4 vehicle was reported to have a badly damaged bumper and was blocking a lane of traffic. The driver was not injured.

The figures do vary from year to year but on average motorbike riders are 35 times more likely to be involved in an accident compared to someone travelling in a car, and this is only set to increase as roads become busier and more people choose it as a preferred method of transport.
