Head on collision hospitalises two drivers

A serious head on collision occurred between two vehicles on a busy A road at around 6.45 am. Accidents regularly occur at this time as it is still dark and people race to work to avoid the rush hour traffic. Paramedics attended the incident, as well as emergency fire crews, who were needed to secure the crash scene and also cut one of the drivers free from their vehicle using specialist equiptment.Emergency services treated the casualties at the site including one man for leg and spinal pain. Both parties were taken to general hospital for further assessment and treatment.

Their injuries are reported to be serious but not life threatening.

Police are appealing for witnesses.
