Industrial accident leaves two men injured

Emergency services were called to Preston Farm Industrial Estate following an industrial accident’ whereby two workers sustained injuries whilst working in an inspection pit.

The incident happened at around 9.50am and involved two men who were struck by a piece of lifting equipment whilst they worked.

A company spokesperson said; “The two men were working in an inspection pit and were struck by a piece of lifting equipment. The emergency services were called to site and attended promptly.

“The two workers were assessed by paramedics at the scene and have been taken by ambulance to The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.”

“Imperial Tankers’ Health & Safety team are on site and are already conducting an inquiry; they will work in conjunction with the appropriate external agencies to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident”.

The extent of the injuries is not yet known.
