Insurers Issue Warning over December Car Accident Figures

Insurers are warning drivers to be extra careful over the next week to help reduce the amount of car accidents.

Leading insurer Axa has revealed that car accident numbers have risen 40% between 20th – 25th December in the last two years.

They also revealed that December is the worst month of the year for accidents, and that the 23rd December is singled out as their single worst day of the year for insurance claims.

A spokesperson for Axa said: “The pressure of Christmas seems to have a negative effect on our driving. Obviously there are larger numbers of drivers on the roads so we would expect accidents to be up, but not to the extent that our statistics reveal.”

“We know that it can be a very stressful time of year for drivers with overloaded cars, excitable kids, long journeys and dark, wintry conditions. But it is a sad truth that many will end up spending Christmas sorting out an insurance claim or worse.”
