Man falls from scaffolding

A man who had fallen from scaffolding and was trapped 15 metres from the ground, had to be rescued using a hydraulic platform.

The man, in his 40s, was believed to be working at the assembly hall site at the time of the accident when emergency fire crews were called to the scene at around 2.45pm.

An ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “Crews were called to reports of a man who had become injured whilst carrying out work on the roof of a property.”

“The man had reportedly fallen through the scaffolding planks he had been standing on, landing onto a lower platform which was approximately eight feet below.”

Due to the location of the man and the instability of the scaffold structure, the emergency services had to reach the man from a car park where he was successfully stretchered onto a hydraulic platform before being taken away to hospital by ambulance.

The casualty was taken to the hospital and was treated for a shoulder injury.
