Man has to pay £4k compensation for punching friend in the face whilst drunk

A 61 year old man has been ordered to pay £4,000 after punching his female companion in the face during a drunken row. The circumstances leading up to the altercation involve an evening out with his friend and then they returned back to his friend’s house where an argument broke out resulting in the defendant striking the woman in the mouth.

As a result of the assault, the woman lost two teeth and had to have root canal surgery and was also physically and emotionally traumatised by the incident. The man immediately admitted to the assault and was given a 12 month, suspended sentence of 26 weeks in prison for ABH and 100 hours of community service. He also has a restraining order against him and a 12 week curfew.
