A man has been left paralysed following an accident on holiday.

Michael Lonergan, a 30-year-old steelworker from Wales sustained the injury after driving into the sea while on holiday with his family in Turkey.

Michael and his family were airlifted back to Wales on a £20,000 flight which was funded by his employers Harsco and Tata Steel.

Farther John Lonergan visited his son in hospital and said: “it was difficult because we didn’t know what to expect.

“We could only imagine him two weeks ago before this happened as a different person.”

Michael is now said to be making a slow and steady recovery, but realises that the accident is life-changing.
