Man Left Seriously Injured after Car Accident in Burton

Two elderly men in Burton have been involved in a car accident leaving one seriously injured.

The Kia Rio and Ford Ranger collided last week at around 2:45pm one afternoon.

A series of emergency vehicles were called to the scene including 4 police cars, two fire engines, two ambulances and two air ambulances.

“On arrival crews found two cars which had been involved in a significant collision,” a spokesperson for the West Midlands Ambulance Service described.

“The driver and passenger of one car, both men believed to be in their 80s, were still in the vehicle and had been seriously injured.”

The two were flown to the University Hospital of North Staffordshire for emergency treatment.

The driver of the second car, thought to be aged in his mid-30s was said to be walking around at the scene when the ambulances arrived.

“The driver of the second vehicle suffered less serious injuries and was walking wounded,” crews confirmed.

Police temporarily shut the road, causing delays to drivers who were forced to travel along alternative routes.
