Man sustains back and leg injury after lift plunge

A man has sustained injuries to his back and legs after a lift he was travelling in plunged 30ft from the 5th floor to the 2nd floor leaving him trapped inside.

Ambulances and fire crews attended the accident site at approximately 11am to help free the man from the lift and to also treat him for his injuries.

A hazardous area response team attended the scene due to the nature of the accident and the risks involved. The man was able to be freed from the lift and was then transported to Hospital.

An Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We treated a man for back and leg pain. He was taken as a priority to Hospital”
