Motorbike Rider Seriously Injured in Accident

A motorbike rider from Leicestershire that was airlifted to hospital after a serious accident is in a critical condition. 

The rider, who is believed to be in his 40s, came off his blue Suzuki GSX bike after hitting a metal fence along the B6047 on Thursday morning. No other vehicle was involved in the incident. 

The accident victim suffered a collapsed lung, a broken back and was in cardiac arrest when paramedics arrived on the scene. 

The Leicestershire and Rutlance Air Ambulance was quickly called when the emergency teams realised the severity of the motorbike riders injuries. 

A spokesperson for the ambulance service said, “Along with an East Midlands Immediate Care Scheme doctor and East Midlands Ambulance Service, they ventilated the casualty and carried out several advanced medical procedures.

“The casualty was also suffering from a suspected broken back and neck, so a pelvic splint was applied and he was immobilised.”
