Nursery accident- family seek compensation

A three-year-old girl had her thumb severely injured when she got her fingers wedged between a door and a wall while playing at a day nursery.

The incident happened in November last year and the girl was rushed to hospital where surgeons managed to reattach the tip of her thumb. Accidents like this can be very common, particularly when health and safety procedures are not fully implemented.

An Ofsted investigation has severely criticised the nursery, adjusting its rating to ‘inadequate’ thus leading to a loss of funding .It closed in June when the company sank into administration.

The personal injury solicitor who is representing the family, said: “Both parent and child  have suffered as result of the nursery’s incompetence and are entitled to compensation”
