Oil worker loses toes in work accident

An oil worker has today told local newspapers that he will have to learn to walk again after losing his toes in a work accident.

The man, who lives in Auchenblae, was working thousands of miles from his home in Ghana, Africa when machinery weighing three-quarters of a tonne smashed down on to his foot.

The 59-year-old, who lost all the toes on his left foot, told his local Evening Express: “The trauma of it is difficult. I keep getting flashback to the second just before it happened.”

Work injury compensation specialists say they are not clear if the man could make a claim or not at this point in time.

He now continues his recovery in the comfort of his home.
