Pedestrian hit by lorry

A pedestrian has been hit by a HGV at around 10.55 am in the morning. Emergency crews responded quickly including paramedics, ambulance crews, police and an air ambulance.

The accident happened on a busy A road which had to be closed in both directions to allow for an air ambulance to land.

The pedestrian’s condition is not known at this stage but it is thought to be life-threatening.

A spokesman for the police said: “ …… Police received a call at 10.57am today…… reporting a serious road traffic collision ………, involving a pedestrian and a lorry.

“The road is currently closed and diversions are in place.”
