Pedestrian in cardiac arrest after collision with car

A woman has been seriously injured after being hit by a car. The accident happened in the early morning at about 5.40am when the pedestrian received serious injuries after being hit by a car.

Emergency services arrived promptly and had to treat her immediately as the woman had a cardiac arrest and suffered a serious head injury.

She was quickly taken to hospital for further trauma treatment. An Ambulance Service spokesman said:

“Crews at the scene immobilised her and applied a pelvic splint and she was given fluids.

“Advanced life support techniques were also performed on her.”

The road was closed in both directions while police investigated the incident.

Road traffic accidents frequently happen  when people are rushing to get to work or school and visibility can be poor. Lots of drivers are on the road at the same time and care is not always taken to look properly at junctions, judge vehicle speeds and rash decisions can be made when under pressure.
