Pedestrian injured after being hit by car

Emergency services were called to an incident whereby a man had been hit by a vehicle which then crashed into a lamp post.  The pedestrian was knocked to the ground where he sustained a head injury.

The accident happened at approx. 9.30am and paramedics, who arrived promptly, treated the male pedestrian on the roadside before he was airlifted to hospital for further treatment.

The man was rushed to the General Hospital where he is being treated for a head injury however his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

The female driver of the car was not injured and has been arrested following the accident.

 

Road traffic accidents frequently happen between 7-10am or 4-7pm when people are rushing to get to work or school and visibility can be poor.
