Pedestrian knocked down in city centre

A man, believed to be in his 40s, has been injured on a busy city centre road after colliding with a vehicle.

The pedestrian was treated at the roadside by emergency services including a rapid response team and an ambulance crew. Paramedics provided pain relief and assessed his injuries before taking him to the city hospital by ambulance for further treatment.

The accident happened at around 11.30am and, according to a North West Ambulance Service spokesperson, the pedestrian has a leg injury as a result of the road traffic accident.

It is not thought the motorist sustained any injuries.
