Rider in Critical Condition after Motorbike Smash in Cumbria

A 56-year-old man from Cumbria is in a serious condition in hospital after a motorbike accident on a road linking the M6 to north Cumbria.

The accident victim was riding a Harley Davidson motorbike when he was involved in a smash with a Honda CR-V.

The driver of the car was uninjured in the accident, however the rider is still described as being in a ‘critical condition’ by medical experts.

Police attended the scene and warned approaching motorists that an accident had taken place. They also helped drivers find alternative routes.

A spokesperson for the force said they believed the Honda was traveling towards the M6 and the motorcycle was heading west when the accident happened.

“Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision or to the movements of the vehicles before the collision to contact Carlisle’s roads policing unit on 101,” they added.
