Road traffic collision results in emergency services cutting driver free from vehicle

An accident on a busy artery road to a city centre caused chaos on roads when they were closed whilst Police, fire crews and paramedics dealt with a serious accident.

Emergency services were called to an accident site involving two cars whereby one occupant’s car was so badly damaged that the fire crews needed specialist hydraulic equipment to cut the injured person out of their vehicle.

Witnesses stated that it took 15 minutes to free the individual from their vehicle before they were assessed by paramedics and taken to hospital.  The driver of the other vehicle was also taken to hospital for treatment.

It is not known the extent of any injuries for either driver at this stage.
