Scottish Farmer Seriously Injured in Tractor Accident

A 40-year-old Scottish farmer was airlifted to hospital yesterday after his tractor collided with a van.

The accident happened on the Baltersan Straight between Newton Steward and Wigton police reported.

The farmer was seriously hurt in the incident but police confirmed that he avoided any life-threatening injuries.

Fire crews were called to the scene to remove the worker from his tractor using hydraulic equipment.

The driver and passenger of the van also received medical treatment at the scene of the crash.

The road was closed for some time while police investigated the cause of the accident and emergency services blocked a nearby drain to prevent oil and fertiliser spilling in to the watercourse.
