Serious crash on M6 involving multiple vehicles

All three lanes of the M6 had to be closed after multiple vehicles were involved in a serious accident. The accident occurred just after a services slip road exit at about 12.45 in the afternoon.

An ambulance and paramedics attended the collision scene where they found a badly crushed Mercedes facing at right angles to the traffic and two other cars and a lorry damaged. The Mercedes appeared to have been forcefully rear ended and the lorry had extensive damage to its bonnet.

“The driver of the Mercedes was initially trapped. Firefighters worked with ambulance staff to free the man, who had minor facial injuries and broken right collar bone.

“Once released, he was fully assessed and treated at the scene before being taken to ….. Hospital.

“The driver of the other car, a man, was shaken but otherwise unhurt. A rear wheel had come off his car in the crash.
