Students have lucky escape after bus rolls off road in to field

More than 50 students from Poole have escaped serious injury when the double-decker bus they were traveling in tumbled off a road in to a field.

Only 5 of the 56 pupils on board had to be taken to hospital all with non-life-threatening injuries.

A spokesperson from the local Police force said: “I’m surprised that no-one has been seriously injured in this”

He explained that the students were shocked by the event but in very good spirits.

The bus, which was being operated by a company based in Plymouth, was travelling from Kinson in Bournmouth to Kingston Maurward Collage in Dorchester when it crashed.

“There are a number of patients thought to be walking wounded and they will be treated by ambulance clinicians at a location near to where the incident occurred,” a spokesperson from the South Western Ambulance Trust said.

The headmaster from the students’ school also added: “The safety and well-being of our students is our top priority and obviously we are extremely concerned about this incident.”
