Theatre worker seeks £300,000 in compensation after back injury

A man who injured his back whilst moving speakers for a theatre company is seeking £300,000 in compensation.

The worker, who was employed by the Natural Theatre Company in Bath at the time of the accident was moving two large speakers which weighed over 60kg.

The speakers were situated on top of a homemade trolley which was being used to transport them around but it had no handles to help with manoeuvrability.

As the man tried to move the speakers out of a goods lift he felt a large pain in his back and after seeking advice from a doctor, he was instructed to take painkillers and attend physiotherapy sessions.

The hospital then discovered he had suffered a compression injury in his spine and operated on it to help with the pain.

Despite making a good recovery the worker has now had his mobility severely effected and requires the use of a Zimmer frame to move about.

Reports suggest he will now make a personal injury claim against the theatre company and will seek a sum in the region of £300,000.
