Three men handed suspended jail sentences for bar brawl

Three Bristol men that were involved in a bar brawl which left the manager seriously hurt have been handed suspended jail terms.

The men became embroiled in a fight which meandered through The Bay Bar leaving the manager with broken ribs and a punctured lung.

Legal specialists have already speculated that the bar manager may be entitled to criminal injury compensation following the incident.

All three of the men pleaded guilty to their convictions, Two of which were grievous bodily harm and affray and one affray.

“This was an ugly, unpleasant incident,” the judge told the men as he handed them their sentences at Bristol Crown Court.

The court heard how four of the bar manager’s ribs had been broken in the incident, causing him on-going mobility problems and leaving him requiring surgery.

The bar managers defence team told the court that his client had set up his own business and was provoked in to the fight that evening.
