Three men hospitalised after road traffic accident

Emergency services were called to an accident site whereby two cars were involved in a head-on collision resulting in three people being hospitalised.

The accident happened at around 3.30pm between a Hyundai Coupe and a VW Polo and luckily there were off duty army medics in the nearby traffic who were able to help at the scene before ambulance crews arrived.

A 29 year old man who was driving the VW Polo is thought to have sustained  serious leg injuries and was quickly airlifted to hospital.  The 27 year old passenger was also taken to hospital but his injuries are thought to be minor.

The driver of the Hyundai, a 52 year old, was also taken to hospital but his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

A witness said:

He said: “From what I understand one of the lads had a badly broken leg, while the other one was hardly touched. When you see the damaged caused to the vehicles, it is amazing that the injuries weren’t more serious.

“There were a bunch of army medics who were about five cars back. They helped out.”
