The injured men were taken to Ninewells Hospital with serious injuries following the incident which happened in the Maryfield area.

Both of the men remained in hospital overnight although their injuries were not believed to be life threatening.

Two teenage boys aged 15 and 16 have been detained and are currently being questioned about the brawl.

“The injured men had been drinking in the 4Js bar just prior to the incident and were on their way to another pub nearby, when the disturbance broke out.

“We know that there were as many as ten people in the street at the time, both men and women and a number of them in their teens, and that there would have been a fair degree of noise generated.

“I would ask that anyone who saw or heard anything get in touch with us as they may be able to help our inquiries.
