Uninsured Drivers blamed for mounting insurance costs

Research by leading insurance comparison website, confused.com has found that men are three times more likely than women to have a conviction for driving without insurance.

This statistic has been linked to the £616 rise in insurance costs that 17 – 20 year olds have seen in the last 12 months.

Head of motoring at the company Will Thomas explained the mounting costs in more detail:

“Uninsured drivers are costing the insurance coverage industry around £500 million a year which unfortunately means higher premiums for law-abiding motorists.

“Covering the cost of uninsured drivers adds around £30 to every honest motorist’s policy.”

With road traffic accidents on the rise, its no surprise that this research is already leaving many worried about their no-claims bonuses.

Industry specialists have advised all those involved in a road accident with a driver without insurance to follow the same steps as a normal crash, taking special care to note down everything that happened.
