Warrington’s alcohol related hospital admissions higher than national average

New statistics have confirmed that Warrington’s drinkers are causing more hospital admissions than the national average.

The North West Public Health Observatory, analysed a series of North-West areas and found that Warrington was one of the worst for drinking related hospital admissions, particularly amongst the under 18s.

Joe Blott, Warrington Borough Council’s executive director for neighborhood and community services said: “The consequences of alcohol abuse can be devastating, not only for the health of the individual but for their family and friends too.

“The council is working hard with NHS Warrington and other partners to tackle the root causes of alcohol abuse through prevention strategies, community and education initiatives and by supporting individuals recovering from addiction.”
