Woman cut free from car after being injured in 3 car road traffic collision

Fire and emergency crews were called to the site of an accident whereby a 63-year-old woman had become trapped in her vehicle after being involved in a road traffic accident involving 3 other vehicles.

The accident happened on a busy road just before 10.50 am and 2 fire engines and a search and rescue team attended the accident site. Fire crews attended to help cut the woman free from her vehicle using hydraulic cutting equipment to remove the car door.

The woman was safely removed from her car and was assessed by paramedics before being transported to the nearest hospital for further treatment.  Her injuries are not thought to be life threatening and other car drivers involved in the incident were bruised or sustained minor injury.

The roads were clear after an hour once the vehicles and crash debris had been removed.
