Woman trapped in car after road traffic accident

Commuter traffic was at a standstill following an accident on the south-bound carriageway of M53 motorway at around 7am. A woman became trapped in her vehicle after she collided with the central reservation on the carriageway, Junctions 9 and 10 between Cheshire Oaks and Ellesmere Port.

Emergency services responded quickly to the scene and fire crews were utilised to release the car from the central barrier so that paramedics could get access to the driver’s door to administer treatment to the injured driver

The casualty appeared to have suffered only minor injuries and was transported by wheelchair to the ambulance and then taken to hospital to be monitored and fully checked over to ensure there were no underlying problems.
