Young man involved in car accident near Hull

An 18-year-old man has been left with serious injuries after a car accident near Driffield near Hull.

Police say he was driving a silver Vauxhall Astra along Pockthorpe Road on Friday when his car left the road and eventually came to a stop in a field.

Investigations are still being carried out to decide how the accident happened.

The driver, who was alone in the car, suffered bruising and lacerations to the head and body as well as internal bleeding.

He was the only person involved in the crash.

Ambulance crews took him to the Royal Infirmary for treatment.

Police closed the road temporarily following the accident and then re-opened it shortly after 9pm.

Anyone that witnessed the incident has been asked to call Police on the non-emergency 101 number quoting log 460 on 19th October 2012.
