Young Pedestrian hit by car

A pedestrian was hit by a car at approximately 3.15pm at the weekend. Emergency services were called after there were calls that a young boy had been injured in a road traffic accident.

He was in collision with Ford Focus, it is not known yet what caused the accident however the child did sustain a head injury and had to be airlifted to the nearest trauma unit for urgent treatment.

A police spokesman said: “The child’s injuries are not believed to be significant at this stage but he was airlifted to hospital as he suffered a head injury.

“He was conscious at the scene of the accident and able to speak to people.’’

The driver of the vehicle was shaken and obviously distressed but did not suffer any injuries.
