Young woman trapped in car after collision with transit van

A woman had to be cut free from her car by fire crews after an accident at around 7.50am.

The incident happened near a busy junction and involved a Renault Megane and a transit van.  A police spokesperson said: “We got a call this morning from the ambulance service which reported a two vehicle road traffic collision.

“The car, a Renault Megane, had a woman in her 20s in. The van involved seemed to be a transit van.

“It appears the woman was trapped in the car and fire crews had to remove the roof to free her.”

Police, fire crews and an ambulance were called to the scene to assess the scene and treat the injured.  There were no serious injuries reported although the woman was taken to hospital for further treatment.
